And as all of you may know, one of my happenings happenings has got to be the Genting trip with my beloved choir :D
I hereby apologise for the lack of photos because I was either too sick or too high or too busy to remember to take photos. Haha . I do have some photos with germain, but they look too hideous to be published. LOL.
Germain was my bus-mate and a very wonderful one indeed as she will comfort me when I was feeling nauseous :/
Fiona was my room-mate (it was supposed to be sophie & my room was supposed to be next to germain's!) but I must say that I had seen a very different side of Fiona and I realised that I shouldn't have judged a book by its cover (:
I shan't bore all of you with all the mundane activities there so here's a summary:
This trip was fun-filled, meaningful and significant. I have learnt a lot of things from this trip and although we had a hectic schedule, I must admit that I've brought home fond memories.
(winks, hugs & kisses to sec fours, eekie, jiaying & jiexin ;)
DAY ONE:
Immediately after we arrived, we went Miss Ong's room for practice.
I mean, not the entire choir but section by section la.
(how to fit!?)
Soprano went in first and we had to squeeeeeezzzzzeeeeeeee.
Some were kneeling on the bed, some were squashed to the walls, some were near the door.
(can imagine? :/)
Then went for sectionals with the guys, dinner and the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was honestly a disappointment because none of the choirs performed.
(unlike the closing, wink wink Kranji choir)
DAY TWO:
Very tiring. It was practice after practice and practice after practice.
And make-up and hair and COMPETITION :O
Some of the seniors expected our results after our performance because there were obvious mistakes made..
Nonetheless, we went to playyyyyyyyyyy after the competition!
It was shopping all the wayyyyyyyyyyyyy until 9.30pm (:
We went to grab some maggi mee after the debrief and we all gathered at germain's room for chit-chat.
Initially, it started off with chit-chat, after which I started eating like a pig, banged my head twice against the head board and I realised I was entertainment for Germain Chong -.-
Then she accompanied me to my room and we started towel-fighting. L-O-L!~
P.S. Unlike the first night, I slept so well that I didn't want to get up the next morning :P
DAY THREE:
Morning was like awesome as we attended a workshop by one of the judges.
But before that was fun discussing with the girls and kheng hian and jieyong about ______ secondary school choir :D (as we get to observe)
You know why?
Cause we spotted the watermelon boy!!!!!!! :D
Opps. I realised I haven't told you about him. He was the joke of the trip man!
Here it goes:
On the first/second dinner that we had, Nathaniel spotted a guy over at the fruits corner.
That guy (which is the watermelon boy from the other school) was picking some watermelon SLICES with HIS HANDS.
So Nathaniel thought he was one of us and went over to tell him off,
Nathaniel: Do you know how DISGUSTING you are?
Watermelon boy: -blank face-
Nathaniel, realising his mistake, went away immediately.
Watermelon boy stood rooted to the ground for a few seconds before walking away in sheer embarrassment. HAHA.
Okay, coming back, we learnt a lot that morning and I realised that the mouth shape that you sing in REALLY AFFECTS the SOUND PRODUCED.
EVEN A SLIGHT CHANGE IN SHAPE.
After lunch came the worst nightmare which at the end of the day, sent majority of us back to our rooms with black faces, tears, frowns, remorse, and..
So the girls (bim-niell, bim-gin, bo-kie, bo-main) went to germain's room to pour our hearts out. (sounds wrong, but nevermind. lol.)
Ended up in tears and yeah.
[But one eff-ing funny thing that happened was that germain hit her head with jiexin's belt in her hand as she wanted to vent her frustration on the mattress! LOLL! HAHAHAHAH :D
sorry ger!]
DAY FOUR:
Morning was super memorable.
Hardly anyone spoke at breakfast, NO ONE smiled.
But I am glad that almost everyone contributed at the sharing session (:
The girls in Soprano cried very hard, almost inconsolable.
But you know what girls, I am very proud of all of you because you girls were brave enough to admit your mistakes and I really hope that you will remember your promises not to make them again, alright?
Some of us (the sops) arrived late for the whole choir sharing session because we were busy calming down and comforting each other, washing our faces in the toilet, So sorry choir for being late.
When we entered, Miss Ong told us to put aside our emotions and stop crying because the sharing session would not have been beneficial cause if we were to keep crying, we will shut our ears to precious things that our mates were saying..
This sentence struck me a lot because I am very emotional, and I have since realised that I should cast aside my emotions in order to get the work done.
The priority is work, not emotions.
Many other things were shared in that erm, five-hour long sharing-cum-reflection session but I'm not going to say it here.
Choir, I really hope you would remember the promises we all made and that you would work hard for next year's SYF. DO US PROUD GUYS! :D
Here's the good news, because of our outstanding performance during the competition, we were invited to perform at the closing ceremony! :D
We practised hard and shared a GOLDEN moment on stage. Right dearies? (:
I bet everyone was very proud of themselves. I sung that song since I was in sec one and I must admit that that night's performance was one of the best versions I've ever sung/heard! :D
Our results were announced after all the performances and much to our expectations, SILVER A!~
Although everyone was secretly hoping for a GOLD despite knowing the low probability, we were very happy to have received SILVER A (:
Afterwhich our dear president delivered a speech followed by Miss Ho, Miss Low and Miss Ong. The other two teachers were not around because they were taking care of poor bomain (:
Miss Ho granted us playtime until 2am! :D
But I didn't get to play because my allergy came up after my shower ):
My lips were swollen and itchy )):
Miss Ong brought me down to buy med, but pharmacy was closed.
Then Miss Ho brought me to the clinic which was rather _____ -.-
It's a 24-hour clinic, so the doctor had a room to sleep.
The nurse woke the doctor up when we arrived at the clinic and he assesssed my allergy with half-opened eyes and yawns.
He didn't even look at my poor swollen lips -.-
And it was RM80 :O
The rest went to celebrate Miss Yong's birthday and yada..
Just wanted to say, sorry for being so sick that I wasn't myself.
Kind of cranky and moody. And homesick. LOL.
Sorry girls and thank you for taking care of me! :D
Esp. Danielle for the wet towel and the massage, Germain & Huisian for consoling and comforting me, Yanni for your concern (:
DAY FIVE:
-HOME SWEET HOME- :D
P.P.S. After I came back , I had to sleep for like full two days to recover . useless right? I will definitely boost up my immune system with vitamin C!
